Hostal in Salento

Our hostal, the Plantation House, was located on the outskirts of town, at the edge of the valley. For the first two days we had nothing but fog and rain, but we awoke to this maginficent view on our final morning. Our little casita is just down the trail.

These goats were tied to poles in different positions each day so as to act as eco-friendly lawnmowers. They were quite talkative little fellows...

but on our first morning, as I went to take a picture, I was suprised that he decided to do his daily business just as I snapped the shot.

The house where we stayed. It had a great fireplace in the common area for reading and just hanging out with other travelers, and we were suprised to see that when the sun came out, they actually used the flat, boxed area on the roof to dry and sort coffee beans.
